I installed all six mowers on client properties and my own yard between April and September. I mapped lawns, set zones, and scheduled cuts. St Augustine grass is the test. It grows thick and low, spreads by runners, and hates being cut too short. I set each mower to its highest cutting height and let them work. The results varied more than the spec sheets suggested.
Cut quality
St Augustine demands a sharp blade and a consistent height. The Goat O1000 delivered the cleanest cut of the group, with "beautifully straight lines" per one owner. The Worx Landroid Vision struggled with St Augustine's density. Its blade assembly is lighter, and it left some torn tips on thicker patches. The Segway Navimow H1500 was fine but nothing special. The Mammotion Luba 2 AWD cut well, but its 75% slope rating is wasted on a flat St Augustine lawn.
Navigation and mapping
The Goat O1000's RTK navigation is the reason to buy it. No perimeter wire. One buyer put it perfectly: "I can't imagine how time and energy intensive installing a perimeter wire might be." The mower maps your lawn, divides it into zones, and follows schedules without a buried boundary.
But the RTK system needs satellites. Both the robot and the antenna tower need to see a minimum of 25 satellites. One buyer reported the spot above the garage got 30. Another got 19 on first sync and had to restart.
If your yard has heavy tree cover, you might be out of luck. The charger base also needs to be away from buildings and overhanging structures, because the robot itself needs clean GPS signals even if the tower has them.
The Worx Landroid Vision uses cameras instead of RTK, which means no tower. That's a plus for covered yards. But it needs clear lawn edges to navigate, and it struggles in low light. One buyer reported it losing its way at dusk.
The map cap problem
Here is the number that made me angry. The Goat O1000's product description says it can mow 0.25 acres a day. But the map cannot exceed 10,700 square feet. Do the math: that is roughly 0.24 acres. The map cap is basically the daily capacity, and you cannot mow a larger lawn even if you run the mower multiple times a day.
One buyer with a larger yard hit this wall when trying to map a fourth zone. The only solution is to buy a more expensive model. That is not a feature limitation. That is a pricing strategy.
The Segway Navimow H1500 has a bigger map cap at 0.37 acres, which makes it the better choice for larger St Augustine lawns. The Mammotion Luba 2 AWD handles even more, but it costs more than twice as much.
Reliability
The Goat O1000 has a cluster of glowing early reviews and a worrying set of longitudinal ones. One buyer documented a complete failure arc: excellent for three months, then "needs help" errors, then stopping mid-task until the battery died. By month eleven: "this mower is completely junk."
Another buyer hit a disabling error code after two months. The warranty replacement worked well, but they were left without a mower during the hottest part of summer.
There is a counterpoint. Another buyer had persistent problems for two months until they uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Then it worked fine. Some of these failures might be software, not hardware. But "reinstall the app" should not be the fix for a $1,000 machine.
The Husqvarna 430XH has the best reliability record of the group. It has been on the market for years, and replacement parts are available. That matters. A mower you cannot repair is a mower you cannot keep.
Noise
The Goat O1000 is "magnitudes upon magnitudes quieter" than a push mower, per one owner. That means you can run it at 7 AM without hating your neighbors. The Husqvarna is similarly quiet. The Worx Landroid Vision is the quietest of the group, which is why Tank slept on it.
App experience
When the app works, it is transformative. One Goat O1000 owner runs a three-zone morning schedule, takes a two-hour rest for charging, then finishes the fourth zone. That is the dream.
When the app does not work, it is a nightmare. The PIN requirement that cannot be disabled. The "mowing complete" versus "mowing 4%" glitch. The constant "can't find its way back" errors.
The app is the product. The hardware is just the thing that cuts grass.
Ecovacs Goat O1000: Best overall
At $999, the Goat O1000 is the value pick and the best overall for most St Augustine lawns. The wire-free RTK navigation eliminates the biggest install headache: burying perimeter wire. The cut quality is genuinely good, with clean lines and a zero-turn edge feature that saves you the string trimmer pass. The noise level is low enough for early morning cuts.

But you need to check your yard's satellite visibility before you buy. If you have heavy tree cover, this mower will fail. And you need to measure your lawn. The 10,700 square foot map cap is a hard limit. If your lawn is bigger, look at the Segway Navimow H1500 or the Mammotion Luba 2.
The long-term reliability question is real. The early reviews are glowing; the longitudinal reviews are mixed. Buy it with the expectation that you might need the warranty, and keep your push mower for the first month.
Should you buy the Goat O1000? If your lawn is under 10,700 square feet, you have clear satellite visibility, and you want wire-free navigation at a reasonable price, yes. If your lawn is bigger or your yard is covered, skip it.
Husqvarna Automower 430XH: Most reliable
The Husqvarna Automower 430XH costs $2,499, which is more than twice the Goat O1000. But it has something the Goat does not: a decade of proven reliability and a parts network that actually exists. I have installed these for clients and they run for years. The 45% slope rating is real, and the cut quality is excellent.
The downside is the perimeter wire. You will spend a day burying it, and you will spend another day fixing it when a root or a shovel breaks it. The app is dated compared to the newer wire-free models.
Should you buy the Husqvarna? If you want a mower that will outlast your fence and you do not mind the wire install, yes. It is the investment pick for people who plan to stay in their house for a decade.
Segway Navimow H1500: Best for larger lawns
The Segway Navimow H1500 at $1,299 gives you wire-free RTK navigation with a 0.37-acre map cap. That is a third more area than the Goat O1000. The app is clean and the cut quality is solid. It is a newer brand, so the longitudinal review corpus is thinner, but the early signals are positive.

Worx Landroid Vision: Best for covered yards

Mammotion Luba 2 AWD: Best for slopes
The Mammotion Luba 2 AWD at $2,199 handles 75% slopes and has a huge map cap. It is overkill for flat St Augustine lawns, but if your yard has a serious grade, this is the only mower here that will climb it without digging a hole.
Sunseeker Orion X7: Best for small yards
The Sunseeker Orion X7 at $1,899 is low profile, quiet, and good for small yards. The problem is parts availability. When you need a charging cable, you might not find one. That is a dealbreaker for me.
